He enjoys illustration as a discipline “as it allows me to be expressive whilst having the focus of a brief. It gives me chance to combine the free nature of Fine Art with the form and structure of Graphic Design. I like to use elements of historical imagery in my work and then use a number of different mediums to give them a more contemporary feel. Along side my more traditional illustration work, I have already gained experience in a number of different fields, such as music promotion and design, film conceptual design and art direction. I particularly aspire to seeing my work visualised on screen.”
His credits include a long-standing association with short film label, ‘Future Shorts’, Topman, Tomy Toys, Nickelodeon, plus various film and music organisations. Barron has worked as designer on T-shirts, websites, various films, magazine illustrator, covers for various albums/CD’s and music festival promoter.
His graduation artwork was a collaborative venture with writer Hattie Garlick; a book which, in his own words is ‘An intricate grown-up Janet and Allan Ahlberg style book; a marriage of words and pictures and the way in which they come together'.
Barron’s work has already received critical acclaim having his work featured in The Times ‘Style Magazine’, Evening Standard, Metro London, Artist And Illustrator Magazine, Royal Academy Magazine and Village Voice.
He is presently pursuing his interests in film, continuing his fine art/illustration projects where possible. Also taking an interest in working more in New York. Please see his website for more information.
He lives and works in London, England.
